WELCOME
OUR MISSION: "To Reflect
Christ through Serving Others"
A word from new
Executive Director, Mike Socia
YOU ARE
HUMBLY
INVITED
God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
James 4:6 (NIV)
Recently I heard a wonderful sermon on
humility.
The pastor defined humility as "not
thinking less of yourself but thinking
of yourself less and others
more".
It was an excellent reminder that in
life, we need to make others the
priority.
Jesus was the perfect example of
humility as he served his followers by
washing their feet and caring for
their needs in a variety of ways.
At Redwood Glen, we are continuing our
year long theme of "FOCUS" by
reminding each other that we are here
to graciously serve our guests.
To put each person who steps on to our
facility first and make hospitality
one of our top three priorities.
Essentially, at Redwood Glen we offer
quality food, comfortable housing and
uncommon hospitality to our guests who
visit each year.
Staff are committed to reflecting
Christ through serving others as we
attempt to meet the needs of our
visitors.
When groups plan a time of retreat at
Redwood Glen, we begin by having
conversations with group leaders
regarding the needs of the group for
space, meeting rooms, food service,
etc.
Then prior to the arrival date, we
check in with the guest group contact
to determine more final details such
as food allergies, schedules, or audio
visual requests.
Just before guests arrive, our staff
cleans the grounds, and goes through
buildings to ensure that everything is
ready for them.
And then, after folks get here, all of
the Redwood Glen staff take action to
make sure the group can focus on
having a memorable and life changing
experience.
In an effort to serve Christ by
serving others, our staff (pictured
below) strives to model
humility by putting others first in
their work and lives.
Max Lucado says that "If Jesus is
willing to honor us, can we not do the
same for others? Make people a
priority. Accept your part in
his plan. Be quick to share the
applause. And, most of all,
regard others as more important than
yourself."
If you've experienced Redwood Glen's
hospitality in the past, we would love
to hear from you. Complete our
online feedback form, give us a review on Yelp, or email.
Please let us know where we scored
five stars, but also share with us how
we can improve. Receiving honest
feedback about our areas of growth is
also part of humble service as we
continually strive to do our best for
Christ.
If you would like to experience our
staff's hospitality first hand, please
contact our guest services staff and
they will help you make plans to bring
your church, non-profit or educational
group to Redwood Glen.

THANKS!
At Redwood Glen we
are literally counting the
days until summer.
Plans are underway with
our SUMMER LEADERS coming together and
staff training being
held. Yet, for our
summer to go off without a
hitch, we need the help of
YOU, our camp supporters,
to lend a hand. WORK DAY is coming on June
2nd and we need to prepare
the grounds for a busy
summer of Redwood Glen
camps and guest group
rentals. In
addition, we are seeking
gifts to support our CAMPERSHIP FUND, which provides aid
to campers who have
financial needs.
More information is
below. Getting ready
for summer is a major
endeavor and we can't do
it without you. On
behalf of the staff, THANKS for your
support! And don't
forget: Please join us at
our annual OPEN HOUSE as we welcome our
new Executive Director and
celebrate the blessings of
Redwood Glen with you.
NO
CHILD LEFT INSIDE:Keeping our summer camp
focus
Did you know:
On average,
kids spend only 3.5
minutes in
meaningful
conversation with
their parents each
week.
Kids ages
8-18 years old spend
an average of 7.5
hours a day
using entertainment
media.
Children play
outside an average
of only 4
minutes per
day.
With such
statistics, it
becomes so important
to provide
opportunities for
children and youth
to get out and
experience the
simple joys that
camp offers. A
week of camp
provides young
people with the
chance to break away
from the pressures
of their daily
routine and the
forces that so
easily distract them
from what's really
important. In
a caring camp
environment, full of
fun and adventure,
students are able to
explore the big
issues of life and
catch a vision for
their long-term
future.
Unfortunately,
for many, a week of
camp is not
possible. In
the San Francisco
Bay Area, countless
families have
trouble putting food
on the table and
paying their
mounting bills.
Often, the kids who
need camp the most
are the ones least
able to afford
it.
The
counselors for
Children Music
And Drama camp
gathered at
Redwood Glen
last month for
a weekend of
training.
Rev.
Larry Rice(on the
far right)
will be the
new director
for CMAD this
year.
At Redwood
Glen, we are
committed to
ensuring that every
child has the
opportunity to
experience a week of
camp and to learn
about God's love for
them. "No
Child Left Inside"
is the focus of our
summer camp
ministry. To
continue this
commitment to
children in our
communities, would
you consider
giving to our
campership fund
to ensure that
all children
have the
opportunity to
attend camp this
year?
With the
start of our camps
drawing near, there
has been an increase
of calls to the
office asking about
financial
assistance. If
you've ever been to
camp, you know the
blessings it can
provide. We
hope that you will
send a deserving
child to camp by
generously
supporting our
campership
fund. For more
information, contact
us at (650) 879-0320
